ROAD EXPO IRELAND AND CIVILEX 2008

On 5 & 6 March 2008, Civilex and Road Expo Ireland will once again open its doors at the RDS Dublin. Entry is completely free and over the two days visitors have the opportunity to meet with over 300 suppliers, discover great products and innovations and attend a diverse range of seminar sessions and demonstrations. Plus all visitors who register in advance, get a FREE light lunch. Supported by the CIF, the NRA, ICES, Engineers Ireland and Engineers Skillnet, these annual shows are the definitive events for Ireland’s roads, civil engineering and construction industries.

FREE SEMINARS
This year, there will be two separate conference rooms.

1. The Committee Room will host the associations and keynote speakers. This year we have even more major industry bodies presenting free seminars during the event. Two new inclusions for 2008 include; Noel Brett, CEO Designate from the Road Safety Authority who will be presenting an Overview on Road Safety in Ireland and Shane Kelly from the NSAI will focus on standards for Ireland’s roads.

Returning to the event is the NRA who will hold two new seminars. One by Fergal Trace and Frank Mohan on NRA Appraisal Guidelines and the other, presented by Helen Hughes and Jim Thorpe, will cover Noise Barriers and Safety Barriers on NRA Funded Projects.

Engineers Skillnet, supported by the Engineers Ireland CPD scheme, will provide invaluable, non-technical seminars on Negotiation Skills for Engineers and Communication Skills for Engineers.

From the Department of Transport we are delighted to have John McCarthy speaking on Traffic Management at Roadworks.

ICES will be presenting two sessions, NDP Road Building Issues and Public Works Contracts, which are to be hosted by their Vice Chairman, Will Merriman.

2. The Information Exchange will be located on the show floor and will be a platform for exhibitors to present technical seminars about their latest products and projects. Exhibitors who will be presenting seminars include:

Neil McKee from Emtek will be giving an Ultracrete Streetscape Presentation on the latest products for paving schemes and specialist mortars and grouts.

Pavestech will present on best practice in road retexturing services, with supporting case studies of their recent work in Ireland.

Ed Byrne from Galco will be talking about Surface Water Management in Urban Landscapes and providing a range of drainage solutions for surface water runoff.

Van Elle Ltd will present on The Appliance of Geotechnical Science and will hold an invaluable Geotechnical Surgery. This will be an open floor style session, inviting delegates to come along with geotechnical issues specific to their projects or organisation.

Con-Form will speak on Ground Improvement - the Importance of Quality Standards & on Site Assessment, which examines ground improvement as a means to make contaminated soils fit for construction purposes.

Hasopor will give a technical presentation on their lightweight foam glass aggregate, which is widely used for insulation and geotechnical solutions in the building and construction Industry.

Others include NiFast, who will be talking about Health and Safety responsibilities, Routescene, presenting on Road Inspection and Mapping and Tensar who will be giving an overview on Geogrid Technology.
